Hi!
Hello, I’m Monika.
I have been working in couples therapy for more than 15 years. First in a non-profit counseling center where clients had free access to counseling, since 2016 also in my own practice, now 100% self-employed.
Our mission
The idea behind besser:lieben
The waiting lists at counseling centers (and many independent counselors) are overflowing. At the same time, many competent colleagues do not dare to start their own practice. And clients often don’t know where the fields of couples, family, sex and trauma counseling overlap meaningfully — and where to find a multi-professional counselor. Online, those seeking advice quickly lose orientation, and counselors lose a lot of money to Google ads.
I want to bring together those seeking advice and counselors
— and to support colleagues in feeling secure as self-employed practitioners. Secure regarding all the “stuff around it”: data protection, organization, scheduling, etc. And also secure in the counseling itself: through a team I can ask, through a place where I hear of other cases in supervision and can present my own, where I can exchange professionally and, if needed, find relief.
Some counselors are also held back from self-employment by fear of competition — but I have always experienced it differently: every colleague I approached was happy about exchange and connection.

My vision is for besser:lieben to become a vibrant community where we strengthen each other and bring couples and sex therapy forward and to the clients together.

We believe in the effectiveness of evidence-based couples therapy and sex counseling and stand for fast appointments and well-trained counselors.

besser:lieben offers psychosocial counseling with a focus on couples therapy and sex counseling. As a multi-professional expert community we also advise on related topics like family counseling, psychological counseling and trauma-aware counseling.
Our counseling does not replace psychotherapy.

What you can rely on!
High requirements
Our counselors hold a counseling foundation qualification plus at least one multi-year continuing education in couples, trauma, family and/or sex counseling. We pay attention to recognized certifications and evidence-based approaches. Whoever counsels with us commits to ongoing training and supervision.
Transparency
Costs, qualifications and availability are visible at first glance.
No promises of healing
We work to serious counseling standards. The offers on this platform do not replace psychotherapy.
Collegial team
besser:lieben sees itself as a collegial team: professional exchange among counselors and continuous development of the platform are core to our offering.
